Introduction

The Convention of the Baronage of Scotland is the representative body for all those who hold a Scottish feudal Barony.

Until 2004 this was based on ownership of land which had been elevated to the status of being a Barony. From November 2004 the Abolition of Feudal Tenure etc. (Scotland) Act 2000 severed the dignity of Baron from land ownership and extinguished all superiority interests in land.

You will find a full account of the Convention, of the history of the Baronage of Scotland and of the Scottish feudal system in the pages that follow.
